🎨 Illustrating Innovation: Denise Gallagher for Texas Medical Association's Tech Trends Feature

Denise Gallagher recently lent her distinctive illustration style to a story at the intersection of healthcare and technology for the Texas Medical Association magazine.

The feature dives into the findings of TMA’s annual Health Information Technology (HIT) Survey, tracking how Texas physicians are using (and reacting to) emerging tech like artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and electronic health records. With AI interest on the rise and virtual visits dipping, the story also explores growing concerns over data security and information overload in clinical tools.

Denise’s illustration captures the tension and excitement of these rapidly evolving tools—highlighting the complexity of modern medicine with nuance, humanity, and a touch of surrealism. Whether addressing the growing influence of the 21st Century Cures Act or the rise in cyberattacks against practices, her visual approach helps distill technical concepts into an engaging and accessible narrative.

Just like great reporting, Denise’s work helps us see the bigger picture.
