SUMMER SPLASH x AMY MIKLER
The Best Summer Moments Are the Ones You Can't Stage
With summer winding down, we wanted to share a shoot Amy Mikler did on her own a few months back, no client involved, just an idea she wanted to chase.
Every summer campaign has that one shot everyone reaches for, someone floating peacefully in a pool with a drink in hand, soaking up the sun. Amy wanted to know what happens five seconds later, when a kid jumps in, water flies everywhere, and the float is over before anyone can call it a wrap.
That's the moment she set out to catch. Rather than chasing the perfect frame, she leaned into what actually happens when a family is together and nobody's posing, the laugh that comes out wrong, the kid who cannonballs in before anyone's ready, the mom who gets soaked mid sip and laughs anyway.
The resulting series feels like something you lived through rather than something you watched, and for brands in travel, hospitality, retail, food and beverage, or anything built around family life, that difference matters. People recognize their own summer in images like these faster than they recognize a stock version of it.
This is where Amy does her best work, catching the beat right after the posed shot when everyone forgets the camera's there. Before the season wraps for good, it felt like the right reminder to leave you with: sometimes the best image isn't the perfect float, it's the splash that interrupts it.
