NBA x DARREN CARROLL
New City, Same Read on the Game
When Darren Carroll packed up and moved from Austin to Charlotte, his camera bag came with him, and so did more than a decade of shooting the NBA.
His first assignment in his new city put him courtside for the Hornets against the Spurs, a matchup that tied his old home to his new one in a way he couldn't have planned. "It was kind of ironic that my first game in Charlotte was when the Hornets played the Spurs," Darren says.
The day threw him a curveball nobody could have scripted either. Charlotte got hit with 11 inches of snow, turning what should have been a routine drive to the arena into a genuine test of getting there at all. "That game was also the day we got 11 inches of snow in Charlotte, which made getting there and back a little bit of a challenge," he recalls.
For the teams and brands who book Darren, the move doesn't change what shows up in the final frame. He's still reading a game the same way he always has, still finding the split second before it happens, still bringing the eye he's built covering the league across arenas for years. What's different is his reach. Based in Charlotte now, he's set up to cover NBA action throughout the Southeast while continuing to work with clients across the country.
New city, same photographer clients have trusted to catch the moment that actually makes a game worth remembering.
If your team needs a photographer who shows up ready for whatever the day throws at him, snow included, we'd love to introduce you to Darren.
