DARREN CARROLL + RYDER CUP

October 15, 2021
We asked Darren about his experience in shooting this years Ryder Cup and this is what he shared...

"The Ryder Cup is like nothing else in golf--I cover a lot of tournaments, but the match play format and the fact that the players are playing for pride and not money makes this more about sportsmanship and camaraderie than your normal week on tour. I was one of two official Team USA photographers with the actual client being the PGA of America, which runs the event (I'm under contract to them as their Photography Consultant). So it's always a blast to have a behind-the-scenes look at an event like this and to be able to witness golf history in the making up close and personal."

Darren was born and raised in New York, and received a bachelor’s degree in government from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. In 1994, he moved to Texas to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin, with every intention of heading back east within two years. More than twenty-five years later he’s still in Austin, where he lives with his wife Jessica and their two retrievers, Shea and Polo, and concedes that he's now lived in Austin long enough to have turned into one of those people he couldn't stand (and who couldn't stand him) when he first moved there.
