DARREN CARROLL + PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

July 15, 2024

As the photography consultant to the PGA of America, Photographer Darren Carroll serves as the photographer for Team USA at the Ryder Cup and the official photographer for the PGA Championship. Recently, he documented Xander Schauffele's historic win at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

“Commercial assignments like this are entirely different from a normal shoot,” Darren explains. “You're capturing live action and transmitting to the client in real time—there are no do-overs, no 'fix-it-in-post,' and no artificial light. You work with what nature, the golf course, and the golfer give you.”

Darren's extensive experience with the PGA and other golf organizations gives him unique insights into the game, enhancing his work with clients such as Dick's Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, and Flag and Anthem apparel.

Photographer Amy Mikler wanted to know what happens five seconds later, when a kid jumps in, water flies everywhere, and the float is over before anyone can call it a wrap.
