3D Character Design in Action: SnipTV’s Cable-Gnawing Squirrel
For a recent project with SnipTV, 3D illustrator and animator Lincoln Durham was tasked with designing a completely new character: a mischievous, cable-gnawing squirrel named Snippy.
The creative process began with a series of exploratory sketches to define the character’s look and personality. Once a clear direction was chosen, Lincoln sculpted Snippy in ZBrush, carefully developing his form and details.
From there, the character was brought to life through Cinema 4D, where Lincoln handled the rigging, texturing, and fur development to give Snippy a realistic and expressive presence. The project was finalized with rendering in Redshift, leaving Snippy fully posed, polished, and ready for his closeup—perhaps even with animation on the horizon.
